The students mentioned above volunteered their time to participate in the Newcastle Herald Newspaper competition, proving that effort and hard work does reap rewards. The students and staff would like to thank Tess Hilleard for her expertise and professionalism in guiding the students throughout the project.
When asked about the outcome Tess said she was thrilled “Projects like this give kids a sense of what’s possible in the future, and who knows where it can take them” she said.
Tess and the kids would also like to thank Margaret Lang, Anne Frost, Margaret Francis, John Bowen, Melissa Bonney and Kevin Hutchins for sharing their stories with the wider community.
Thanks must also go to the teachers and Principal at Stroud Public School for making extra curricular activities such as this available to the students. Stroud Principal Carolyn Bowman said she was extremely proud of the children and what they had achieved.

Congratulations to the children of Stroud school on their win. Also to Tess Hilliard for her encouragement and guidance.
I am also very proud of the young people involved in this project and of our local community encouraging involvement in such activities.
Congratulations all .. achievements like yours don’t just happen .. they happen when someone get’s a great idea, then has the energy a rare ability to share & truly inspire others.
Those others can then sniff the sweet waft of possibilities .. and “go for it”!
What a wonderfully fertile life experience for young minds that is.
Thank you, thank you for all involved .. with absolutely no personal right to feel it, I’m loving your success and what it can mean for you as individuals and what you have freely given us .. your community that is very proud of you.
