Community Grants program is now open

The Great Lakes Council Community Grants Program is open for applications.

The Grants Program provides funding to non-profit community organisations, toward projects that improve the quality of life for the Great Lakes community.

Organisations can apply for up to $2,000. The funding program is designed to benefit local, not-for-profit organisations or groups, and will not be extended to individuals, or to sporting activities.

“Council is delighted to be able to offer the Community Grants Program again this year” said the Mayor, Cr Jan McWilliams. “Many very worthwhile projects have been funded in the past and we look forward to receiving applications for the 2014/2015 funding round.”

Applications are to be received at Great Lakes Council by 23 January 2015, with results being announced at the end of March.

“There is a preference for funding specific community projects, and in particular, capacity-building projects, rather than contributing toward ongoing operational costs of an organisation” said Council’s Community Services Coordinator, Ms Lynda Hepple.

Council has a Grants Committee consisting of three Councillors who assess the applications and make recommendations to Council for adoption.

Application forms are available from Council offices, libraries and the Council website:
