ANZAC Centenary Fundraiser

The Central Hotel at Stroud is leading an innovative push to honour the special contribution made by our local Returned Servicemen and Women.

Over the coming months a number of fundraising activities will be undertaken to sponsor our Returned Soldiers on a trip to the National War Memorial in Canberra. The trip is scheduled to take place in the month leading up to 2015 ANZAC Day Centenary.

“The initiative is a small way of recognising our local Diggers in what promises to be an eye opening and emotional trip to the National War Museum.” Says local Publican Brendan Mears.

The first stage of fundraising is on this Saturday, in conjunction with the final game of the season between the Stroud Raiders vs Dungog Warriors.

Entertainment for the night

The award winning Newcastle muso NgarikiNgariki has made Stroud a second home wowing locals with his spectacular solo performances over the past year, he’s a regular at Lizottes and a seasoned veteran of many music festivals. It promises to be a special night as he rocks the night away with his three piece band.  We look forward to making the 2015 Centenary ANZAC Celebrations special for our local Returned Servicemen.

Information about the 2015 Centenary trip

The group intends to travel by coach from Stroud leaving at 5pm on Friday night, staying two nights in Canberra and returning by 5pm on the Sunday. A feature of the trip will be a special dinner on the Saturday night with a mystery guest speaker. Organisers want to include as many members of the returned soldier’s families as possible on this Canberra pilgrimage to celebrate the ANZAC Day centenary.
