Lions history and ethos

Formed in 1955 Stroud Lions Club is one of the oldest Lions Clubs in Australia. Internationally Lions has a long history as an established service organisation with chapters in most towns the world over. Many would not know that Lions Club International and the UN – United Nations formed a strong relationship at the end of World War II.  At that time and in the ensuing years Lions and the UN have worked together on countless international humanitarian endeavours. In 2008 Lions and the UN signed a letter of intent for Lions to implement three UN Global Compact projects to help the UN fulfill its development goals.
