Booral Public School Young Leaders

Booral School Captains, Mia and Griffin, attended a ‘Young Leaders’ conference in Sydney last week.

Students are selected by their schools or community groups as possessing leadership potential. Some schools send the students they have recently appointed to leadership positions such as SRC members, Prefects, and School Captains.

The program is designed to benefit any student who shows an interest in developing their leadership potential. Over 23,000 students along with their teachers/principals attend this event around Australia annually. All students in attendance will have access to a Certificate of Participation following the event.

One of the speakers at the event is one of Australia’s youngest explorers, Jade Hameister. Jade is a 15 year old student from Melbourne who climbed Mt Kosciuszko and completed her first triathlon season by age 6. By age 12, Jade had conquered the Mt Everest Base Camp Trek. And at age 14, she became the youngest person in history to ski to the North Pole from anywhere outside the Last Degree (150km over 11 days). This was also the longest journey to the North Pole by any woman on the planet in the last 2 years.

What an exciting event, great to see our young leaders involved.
