Local Land Services board election

Local Land Services is preparing for its second local board election where local representatives are elected by ratepayers for each of the 11 local boards.

Three of the seven local board members in 10 regions and four in the Western region are elected by Local Land Services ratepayers. The remaining members and the Chair are Ministerially-appointed.

The 2017 local board elections will take place on 31 May 2017. Nominations are now open for candidates until 12 pm on Friday 27 March 2017.

Ratepayers in any Local Land Services region are eligible to nominate a candidate, including themselves, for election in that region. Anyone 18 years of age or older can be nominated for elections provided their normal place of residence is within the region.

Nomination forms and a candidate information package are available from the Local Land Services website, or from your nearest Local land Services office.

In calling the election, Local Land Services Chair of the Board of Chairs Tim de Mestre said enrolling to vote, and exercising that vote, is an important way for ratepayers to have their say and ensure that Local Land Services boards have strong local representation.

Enrolments close 5 pm 31 March 2017. Enrolment forms are available from the Local Land Services website or from your nearest Local Land Services office.

Ratepayers who enrolled prior to the last Local Land Services board elections in 2014, will not need to renrol. If you’re not sure whether or not you are on the roll, please contact your nearest Local Land Services office to find out.

“Together, the elected and appointed board members play an important role in setting the strategic direction of the organisation, promoting the services offered and communicating the priorities and concerns of customers to local boards,” Mr de Mestre said.

  • Enrolments close 5 pm 31 March 2017
