Keen interest in future of lodge

More than 100 people attended three community briefings held in Stroud last week to unveil plans that will help ensure the continuation of aged care services by the Stroud Community Lodge for another 25 years.

Those attending were informed of the lodge’s two-stage plan to respond to the Federal Government’s February 2017 plans to deregulate the aged care sector.

Lodge Chairman Rod Williams said “The lodge’s new paradigm captures opportunities opening up next year as a result of plans to deregulate the home care market.  Expanding into the provision of home care services for the Stroud district presents a natural way to grow our business.”

Home care means the Stroud Community Lodge can use its existing reputation, and its staff, to provide aged care services for many more people in Stroud and the surrounding district.

“If the rapidly changing aged care environment ever started to threaten the high quality of care at Stroud Lodge, we have a contingency plan to tender our current business on a leasehold basis, so that we maintain community control,” Mr Williams said.

Mr Williams said he was very encouraged by the interest the community has shown in the new paradigm.

Last week’s Stroud community meetings also heard how federally funded ACS consultant Mr Peter Mackie has helped the lodge board develop its new paradigm.

Mr Mackie told the meetings that aged care organisations that fail to change or re-shape their 20th century business models will face great difficulties in the newly deregulated market.
