Give someone a pat on the back this Australia Day

Do you know someone who deserves recognition for an outstanding achievement, or who contributes to the advancement and well-being of our region?  MidCoast Council is currently calling for nominations for the upcoming 2017 Australia Day Awards.

It may be a friend, a work colleague, a community leader, or someone who has achieved great success in our community.  Now is the time to recognise the unsung heroes amongst us, who through their dedication and hard work make a positive difference for us all.

An Australia Day Award is a great honour in recognition of the contribution individuals make for the greater good of their communities and their nation.

MidCoast Council awards ceremonies will take place in the Gloucester, Great Lakes and Manning regions.  For full details and nomination forms in all three regions, visit www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/australiadayawards

Gloucester
Nominations are open until Friday 9 December for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year or Project of the Year.  Contact Janine Mitchell on 6538 5250 for more information.

Great Lakes
Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Sportsperson of the Year, with nominations closing on Monday 28 November.  Call Sue Bookallil on 6591 7222 if you need more information.

Manning region
Nominations for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, and the Ken McDonald Memorial Sportstar of the Year close on Friday 6 January 2017.  Call Michelle Corbet on 6592 5399 for more details.

Three Australia Day ceremonies will be conducted on Thursday 26 January 2017, at Billabong Park in Gloucester, Club Forster, and the Manning Entertainment Centre in Taree, where award winners will be announced.  Full details of each event will be provided in January.

For now, give that special someone who you’ve seen doing great things a pat on the back and nominate them for an Australia Day Award.
