From Stroud Lions Club
After a number of unsuccessful community membership drives, Stroud Lions Club recently invited local business owners to a meeting to discuss the future of Lions in our community. In a terrific show of support, many attending the meeting indicated they would like to join a new-look Lions club, with most others offering support for the club. This is great news for our community as we now have enough support to ensure a viable Lions club for Stroud.
At the meeting, it was suggested that the next Stroud Lions Club meeting be opened up to all community members interested in learning more about how a future Lions Club might operate, and whether they’d like to be involved. Details of this meeting are:
WHERE | Function room – Stroud Community Lodge
WHEN | Monday 16 May, 2016
TIME | 7pm
Please come along to discuss the benefits that Lions has to offer a group of like-minded people who want to improve their community:
- an International and National Organisation behind all decisions that you make to improve your community
- membership that includes insurance and free legal advice for projects
- a trusted applicant for winning grants and funding
- an ethical framework for a group of business owners and community-minded citizens
- the opportunity for leadership roles with a rotation of board positions. This means that everyone takes their turn to lead and run the club. Outgoing board members are there to help the new board with their duties and Lions run education days for incoming executives.
