A woman has been charged after an alleged armed robbery and pursuit in the state’s north.
About 3.25pm today (Monday 11 April 2016), a 52-year-old woman was working at a service station on Church Street, Gloucester, when she was approached by a woman who had her face covered by a black stocking.
The woman allegedly produced an item made to resemble a firearm and threatened the attendant, demanding cash.
She was handed an amount of cash before leaving the store and heading south in a Ford Festiva allegedly bearing stolen number plates.
A short time later, a highway patrol vehicle with a sole officer on board sighted the vehicle travelling south on Bucketts Way, near Stroud.
During the pursuit, the woman stopped the vehicle and was placed under arrested.
While the arresting officer was preoccupied, the woman re-entered the vehicle and drove from the scene and the pursuit recommenced.
She eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed down an embankment where she was again arrested.
The 44-year-old woman was taken to Taree Police Station and charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon, larceny, police pursuit (Skye’s Law), drive manner dangerous, exceed speed limit over 45km/h, drive whilst suspended, and escape lawful custody.
She was refused bail to appear at Taree Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 12 April 2016).
