Funding available for community groups

Great Lakes Council invites community groups to apply for funding in the 2015 / 2016 funding round.

The grants are designed to fund projects that increase social participation and create a sense of community and place, and improve the quality of life for the Great Lakes community.

Community groups can apply for up to $2,000. The funding aims to benefit local, not-for-profit organisations or groups, and will not extend to individuals.

Mayor Cr Jan McWilliams says “Council is delighted to be able to offer the Community Grants Program again this year. Many very worthwhile projects have been funded in the past and we look forward to receiving applications for this funding round.”

Applications are to be received at Council by 22 January 2016, with results being announced at the end of February.

“The grants are to fund community projects that satisfy an unmet need, that where possible, involve partnerships or collaboration with other groups, and in particular, capacity-building projects” said Council’s Community Development Coordinator Lyndie Hepple.

“More information on the specific criteria is detailed on the application form, and we are also available for advice if necessary.”

Council has a Grants Committee consisting of three Councillors who assess the applications and make recommendations to Council for adoption. The application form is available on Council’s website: www.greatlakes.nsw.gov.au
