What’s on in August

Minions (PG) – Saturday 8 August at 3pm
The Minion movie is back by popular demand. Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a super-villain who hatches a plot to take over the world.

Far from the Madding Crowd (M) – Saturday 8 August at 7pm
A classic period melodrama about lust, doomed romance and how not to pick a husband. The main character, Bathsheba, is an independent, beautiful, headstrong woman, who must choose between three very different suitors in Victorian England.

Women He’s Undressed (PG) – Film Society – Sunday 16 August at 7pm
Orry-Kelly is the boy from Kiama who became a legendary costume designer during the golden years of Hollywood. The journey of this underappreciated Australian genius is brought to life in Gillian Armstrong’s classy documentary.

Last Cab to Darwin (M) – Saturday 22 August at 4pm and 7pm
This moving Australian drama tells the story of  a loner cab driver who makes an epic drive through the outback to die on his own terms, and along the way discovers that it’s never too late to start living.

Ant-Man (PG) – Saturday 29 August at 7pm
Ant-Man is the newest superhero from Marvel studios. Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor plan a heist that will save the world.
