Stroud Rodeo Association celebrates 40 years

Information courtesy of the Stroud Rodeo Asso;
The Stroud Rodeo Association is celebrating 40 years of Campdraft and Rodeo this year. To celebrate this milestone we are organising a reunion dinner at the Stroud Country Club on Saturday 19 July, starting at 6.30pm for dinner at 7pm.

So if you are or have been a cattle donor, volunteer worker, a competitor or one of our valued sponsors, we would love you to come along (with your photos and stories) and help us celebrate 40 years of Rodeo and Campdraft in Stroud.

Stroud Rodeo – September

It all started out with a steering committee formed by the Stroud Show committee and the Stroud Lions Club. Later down the track the show and the Lions dissolved their association and a new stand-alone committee was formed.

Over the years the Rodeo has grown in leaps and bounds from borrowing chutes and panels to building their own portable set-up. In the year 2000, our committee decided to make their own ‘all purpose’ built arena with grandstands and a hill to view the action.

There have also been many changes made to the Campdraft area, with a new camp and new yards. In doing this the original wooden rodeo chutes were removed.

Also over time the committee have hosted the Australian Championships as well as the NSW Rodeo championships. And to top it all off the committee felt very honoured when the ABCRA association approached them to run the National finals Campdraft.

The Stroud Rodeo Association is a non-for profit organisation that work hard to raise and donate money to many worthwhile charities and local businesses. Over the years we have raised thousands of dollars for HMRI and the Stroud Lodge, just to name a few.
