Pumpkin Festival – Sunday 25 May

State Member for the Upper Hunter to attend
the Stroud Market Pumpkin Festival

Member for Upper Hunter, George Souris, said that the Growers and Community markets in Stroud, Gloucester, Dungog and Booral are emerging as an important part of the economies and social fabric of their rural communities.
“I welcome the invitation to open the Stroud Pumpkin Festival this Sunday, marking the first anniversary of the Stroud Heritage Growers and Artisans Market”, Mr. Souris said.
“I congratulate the committed and energetic individuals and organisations that have established and run these markets to benefit their communities.”
“I’ve seen first hand how these markets attract visitors, encourage new business ventures and promote a collaborative culture in communities.”
“Markets also transform community facilities like the picturesque Stroud Showground or into regular, family-friendly meeting places for the whole community,” Mr. Souris concluded.
Mr Souris said the farmers market concept was well supported by the NSW Government and he looks forward to the Stroud Pumpkin Festival on Sunday 25th May, 2014 from 8.00am – 12 noon at the Stroud Showground.
