Grandstand Refurbishment

Just in time for the Show

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe old Stroud Showground Grandstand was in a poor condition and recently received a much needed refurbishment. The works to repair all the seating tiers are complete – just in time for the Stroud Show.

Great Lakes Council advised that the works were undertaken by local contractors and included replacing the joists, seat support frames, balustrades, posts, handrails, decking and painting selected components. Additional works to replace external weatherboards and painting the exterior were also completed.

The Grandstand does look very smart and it is even better news for those concerned residents that the WWI Veteran Roll of Honour Plaques are not going to be moved from their rightful position, up to the Cenotaph memorial, afterall.

Over the years I’ve watched this building become very tired and wondered when something could be done to revive it. What an amazing transformation. Well done Great Lakes Council and anyone who contributed to this wonderful renovation. Looks amazing!

Oh boy what childhood memories of the 1940s this post brought back. It was good to see work having been carried on this grand structure.
