Music & Mirth

A Great Community Effort

The Friends of St. John’s are overwhelmed by the support they have received from the Stroud Community in their efforts to raise capital to replace the broken down annex attached to St. John’s Parish Hall.

Music and Mirth, staged last Friday evening in the School of Arts was judged by all to be a great entertainment.

Pictures below show our Stroud stars in action: Chris J. Garland as Stanley Holloway  – and Anne Frost as Bill from C. J. Dennis’ The Sentimental Bloke. Together they performed Edwardian Music Hall style numbers joined by an enthusiastic audience in good voice.

Hugh B, Knight who tickled the ivories had come up from Sydney to help out.

Behind the scenes organisation; cooperation and generosity was amazing. The Friends would like to thank all who contributed so generously of time and product. Financial returns have not been finalised but the result will be well in excess of $3,000.

The Friends AGM Raffle, will be drawn on May 24th. Results will be published on this website and winners notified by mail.

Many thanks,
The Friends of St John’s
