Digital switchover today

Digital TV switchover today

Hunter Council’s Digital Switchover Liaison Officer Lorraine Gormley has confirmed this morning that according to the broadcasters’ latest information the analogue TV signal will be switched off in Stroud today and the digital signal switched on.
Lorraine emphasised that that people in Booral waiting on Household Assistance Scheme or Satellite Subsidy Scheme installations may be without television for up to 48hours. This is due to the broadcasters’ predictions that some residents may be able to pick up the digital signal from the Stroud tower and therefore not need to go to satellite.
Information from the Australian Government’s mySwitch website indicates that “..the new site is expected to provide the full range of digital channels from local commercial stations as well as the ABC and SBS. Some minor modifications to your antenna may be required should you wish to receive services from the new site.”
Television sets will need to be re-tuned.
Stroud Community Web will issue a special post today should the switchover not go ahead as planned.
You’ll find the latest information about the switchover and how to access help at mySwitch.
