Intermittent TV reception

Seasonal interference to digital TV

Some residents in the Hunter region may experience intermittent TV reception difficulties, more frequently occurring during the summer months. This type of interference causes deterioration of picture quality and intermittent loss of signal. During specific weather conditions, particularly high pressure systems and still conditions, signals from distant transmitter sites are carried further than normal. This is known as atmospheric ducting and can cause interference to reception of TV services in areas where signal levels are relatively weak. Read through the Ducting Fact sheet – Hunter region – Nov 2012 for information on what you can do to improve reception problems caused by seasonal interference.

Thanks for this information. I have problems with mine almost every day and it comes good at about 11pm but not always. It is poor early of a morning. I have the main issues with the ABC, my main channel that I watch. I have checked my cables. I am set up for digital switching. I have spoken to the ABC as I currently point to Sugarloaf and they advise there are no issues with Sugarloaf and suggested I turn my aerial to face the Stroud tower. They have told me that they don’t support the Stroud Tower and had no answer should the problem continue with the Stroud tower. The switch people tell me that I should get good reception with the Stroud tower but I had great reception with Sugarloaf prior to the switch. I am hoping for cooler weather at some point over the weekend so that my brother can get on the roof and turn the aerial but I am aware of the weather predictions. I receive perfect reception with Prime which I watch rarely. Channel 3 is an intermittent problem. Watch this space.
